El uso para asma se clasifica como REC con base en el empleo significativo tradicional documentado en las encuestas TRAMIL, los estudios de toxicidad, validación y la información científica publicada.

Por el riesgo del asma y de la neumopatía para la salud, se recomienda una valoración médica inicial. El uso de este recurso debe ser considerado como complementario al tratamiento médico, salvo contraindicación. En caso de que se observe un deterioro del paciente o que los síntomas persistan por 2 días, o la crisis de asma por 1 hora, debe buscar atención médica.

El uso para después de la ira (semilla tostada), hepatitis, mala calidad de la sangre (semilla), neumopatía y vértigo, se clasifica como REC con base en el empleo significativo tradicional documentado en las encuestas TRAMIL y la información científica publicada.

En caso de que se observe un deterioro del paciente, que la ictericia, la neumopatía o el vértigo persista por 5 días, debe buscar atención médica.

Por posibles interraciones evitar su ingesta con anti-diabéticos orales, insulina, IMAO, antipsicóticos, antiepilépticos y fármacos estimulantes del SNC4.

Evitar su ingesta en caso de gastritis, úlcera péptica e hipertiroidismo.

No usar durante el embarazo, la lactancia ni en niños menores de 5 años.

Las semillas tostadas y molidas de Coffea arabica constituyen un alimento de consumo humano relativamente extendido.

Contra asma:

preparar una decocción con 15-20 gramos (2 cogollitos) de hoja fresca en 2 tazas (½ litro) de agua, hervir 5 minutos en recipiente tapado. Dejar enfriar, colar (filtrar) y beber 1 taza 3 veces al día.

Para obtener el efecto benéfico en neumopatía e incluso para la obtención de un efecto broncodilatador, es suficiente la ingesta de 1 taza y media de la preparación tradicional de café con la semilla tostada y molida31.

Contra neumopatía, hepatitis, mala calidad de la sangre, vértigo o después de la ira:

Una dosis de 8-10 gramos de café tostado molido para 3 tazas (750 mililitros) de agua agregadas por percolación, permite obtener 3 tazas de café, cuyo contenido en cafeína es de aproximadamente 85 miligramos para cada taza. Tomar 1 taza 3 veces al día.

Contra parásitos intestinales:

preparar una decocción con 15-20 gramos de hojas maduras en 2 tazas (½ litro) de agua, hervir 5 minutos en recipiente tapado. Dejar enfriar, colar (filtrar) y beber 1 taza 3 veces al día.
