Distribution géographique
Originaire du sud-est asiatique, cultivée dans les zones tropicales et subtropicales du monde entier.
Description botanique
Arbre de 10 à 15 m ou davantage, tête dense, arrondie; écorce résineuse. Feuilles alternes, oblongues-lancéolées, pointues ou acuminées, subcoriaces. Fleurs verdâtres ou jaunâtres, odorantes, en grandes panicules; pétales de 5 mm, glabres. Drupe ellipsoïdale à obliquement réniforme, de 5 à 15 cm, mésocarpe charnu, jaune, aigre-doux.
