Originaire d’Asie tropicale, cultivée sous les tropiques.
Description botanique
Herbacée pouvant atteindre 1 m. Feuilles oblongues-lancéolées, de 13 à 28 cm, obtuses. Bractées ovées à orbiculaires, de 2,5 à 3,5 cm, obtuses, vertes avec un bord pâle; marge pubescente; corolle blanche, tube fin de 2,5 cm; lobes acuminés. Fruit ellipsoïde de 2,5 cm.
