Originaire d'Europe. Cultivée partout dans le monde.
Description botanique
Herbacée annuelle à bisannuelle, acaule, avec la racine succulente de couleur rouge pourpre. Feuilles ovées à ovées-oblongues, longuement pétiolées, vertes, rouges ou pourpre, formant une rosette sur le sol. Hampe florale allant jusqu’à 2m avec de nombreuses fleurs groupées formant une panicule grande et diffuse. Fruits en groupes de deux ou plus.
