Aloe vera

Acaulescent or short-stemmed stoloniferous plant. Leaves lanceolate, 30-60 cm in length, long-acuminate, spiny-serrate. Inflorescence on scape of up to 1.2 m long, with sharp lanceolate or ovate bracts; yellow flowers, 2.5 cm long, in dense 10-30 cm long racemes. Dehiscent capsules (fruit), with black seeds.

Allium sativum

Herbaceous plant with bulbs divided into cloves which are enveloped in a whitish skin.  Scape about 50 cm long.  Leaves smooth, 2 to 3 cm wide.  Umbel dense;flowers pink; ovary oblong-ovoid.

Acalypha alopecuroidea

Erect, annual herb, up to 50 cm high.  Leaves 3-7 cm long, triangular to rounded-ovate, acuminate or cuspidate-acuminate, crenate. Inflorescence terminal and axillary spikes up to 5 cm long; bracts of pistillate flowers 7-9 mm long, with long hairs; fruit 2 mm long capsule.

Abelmoschus esculentus

Annual, erect, woody at the base, up to 3 or 4 m, non-ramified. Orbicular leaves, 10-30 cm, 5-7 lobate; lanceolate to ovate serrate lobes, acute or obtuse. Calyx 2 cm, yellow petals with purple spots in the centre, 3-4 cm. Angular capsular fruit of up to 20 cm, acuminate, viscous.
